Empowering Excellence in Schools/ TPEP PrepLooking to show academic growth in classrooms? This is the critical component in the Washington Teacher/Principal Evaluation Project. Based on Halstead’s book entitled Empowering Excellence: Creating Positive Creating Positive, Invigorating Classrooms in a Common Core Environment (2014), this workshop will lead teachers step-by-step through a process that empowers students to learn and guarantees the kind of results teachers need for their TPEP evaluation. Participants will learn to build a supportive academic environment in their classrooms, include essential growth-oriented strategies in their teaching, and organize grade books around Common Core standards to quantify growth.

Testimonials
"You took the mystery our of standards-based grading and reporting," Ted, Spokane Public Schools. "The Empowering Excellence workshop provided insight that helped me 'fill in the cracks' to improve my practice. The readings and discussions were lively, practical, and revealing," Patrick, Spokane Public Schools. "This workshop encouraged me to think more closely about my teaching practices. Like the fictional 'Mrs. Westerman' in his book Empowering Excellence, I have relied on some old-school methods that, upon reflection, may need some rethinking. Thank you for helping me to reevaluate my methodologies," Cathleen, Spokane Public Schools. |
